Movie Trailers Remixed

As usual I have mentioned these before, but I thought it would be good to revisit.

The first was The Shining, incredibly remixed into a feel good father-son story. The I saw West Side Story remixed into a zombie horror movie. These guys have talent, and a lot of time on their hands. So, I thought I might go looking for more. Man, that was a mistake. Here you go, and kiss a half hour away, at least.

Ten Things I Hate About Comandments – The Ten Commandments as a teen comedy, hilarious. This one came across Boing Boing today and started my little search.

Sleepless in Seattle – now a suspense thriller

Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban – now a scary horror movie

The Sound of Music – as a wartime drama

The Big Lebowski – another suspense movie, very very funny.

There are many many more, this is just a small sample. Very fun stuff to watch.

Sesame Street Nostalgia Part 3

Alrighty, this will be the last of the Street series, since you can just go and search YouTube for yourself to find tons of other clips to your own liking. It’s really rather silly of me to just post links and call it entertaining content. (oh wait, that’s all this blog is actually, a regurgitation of other content with the bare minimum of my own words to frame and present the work of others. Dang. Pretend you don’t notice, and I’ll pretend to be funny.)

The Capital I song is something I still find myself humming 25 years later. I swear this song makes it’s way into your brain and sets up camp there, you just can’t get rid of it. Similarly, The Ladybug’s Picnic is a catchy song I find myself playing on the guitar to this day.

And of course Grover the waiter, tons of these on YouTube, all very very funny.

This concludes my lookback at Sesame Street, it’s been brought to you by the letter W, etc.

Sesame Street Nostalgia Part 2

More memories from the Street, just links this time since the embedded videos take forever to load because YouTube is kinda slow.

First we have REM singing Furry Happy Monsters, an excellent pop tune. Then check out Stevie Wonder in his funky glory, seriously this is like some druggy 70’s jam session. The musical talent they got was very impressive, you don’t see much of that today.

And then the killer killer classic bit: Yep Yep Yep Nope Nope Nope. That still makes me laugh. The skill of the puppeteer, those guys and girls should have won Oscars for the performances.

These are stolen from a post on Metafilter and made me misty eyed. Enjoy. Don’t forget Part 1 in this fascinating series.

Sesame Street Nostalgia

I started to write a post about the awesome vintage Sesame Street stuff that is available on YouTube, but as I started to gather links, it quickly became obvious that there was way way too much stuff to put here in one post. So, here’s a few to get you started.

Now there’s a fine turn from Johnny Cash, really. There’s a surprising amount of passion in that performance, but that’s why he’s the master.

And of course, the Pinball Number Count, which is an acid trip for kids. Try not having your perceptions altered after two bowls of Froot Loops and watching this sucker. It’s almost too freaky.

More to come.

A little spooky, a lot fun

I lost more of my morning than I care to admit clicking through the Flash animations on this site. Some serious talent, with a good eye for character and story, these little movies are really compelling and fun to watch.

The centrepieces are the ones that focus on Bitey, especially Littlefoot and the followup The Yuyu. Watch them in order, it’s important. I also enjoyed Taken, which has a high jump out of your chair factor.

Too cool.

I should be on the

I should be on the bus going home right now, but I thought I would leave you with these:

First, we have this guy, who apparently spends his time in what I can only describe as incredibly strange ways. He takes plastic dolls and makes montrous mutations from them. It’s right out of a horror movie, and vaguely disturbing. Boing Boing called them Toddlerpedes, and that makes me even more freaked out somehow.

Then, on a lighter note, a freaking awesome, if strange, business. It’s the Unfortunate Animal of the Month Club. Basically you suscribe to this club and they will make you a one-of-a-kind stuffed animal with way more than the usual number of limbs and heads. It will come wrapped:

“It may be packed in leaves, wrapped in an odd length of fabric, a placemat, yards and yards and yards of string, joss paperyou just never know, and it wont be the same twice.”

I think this is brilliant and weird, and I want to get Lockrey a subscription for her birthday, but don’t tell her.

And finally on the toy frontier I have an (untested since I’m still at work and not on the bus) link to a movie of the animatronic Tigger doll (we have two at home) in a rather explicit scene with a Tickle Me Elmo doll. I’m sure you can picture it, I sure can. The original article from Boing Boing has a still shot.

Again, you should just read Boing Boing, since this blog is over 80% Boing anyway. Those guys rock.

* Update, I had the Toddlerpede link busted, it works better now.
