A flat out brawl erupted in Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity.\u00c2\u00a0 Who was involved, you may ask.\u00c2\u00a0 Hoodlums? Nope.\u00c2\u00a0 Gang members?\u00c2\u00a0 Nah.\u00c2\u00a0 Soldiers?\u00c2\u00a0 Wrongo.\u00c2\u00a0 It was two groups of priests<\/a> actually.<\/p>\n

“The brawl apparently began when Greek Orthodox priests set up ladders to clean the walls and ceilings of their part of the church after the Christmas Day celebrations.\u00c2\u00a0 Armenian priests claimed that the ladders encroached on their portion of the church, which led the two sects to exchange angry words which quickly turned to blows.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Now, I’m not an expert on religion, but I’m thinking that this is not exactly how priests should be behaving.\u00c2\u00a0 It took a dozen policemen to break up the brawl.\u00c2\u00a0 It was quite the holy racket, apparently.<\/p>\n

I’m having a hard time picturing this going down, actually.\u00c2\u00a0 Was there two lines of priests facing off, doing the West Side Story thing, snapping their fingers?\u00c2\u00a0 Or was it an Outsiders-style gang fight?\u00c2\u00a0 Did they use those smoking yo-yos as weapons?\u00c2\u00a0 That could look pretty cool.\u00c2\u00a0 What kind of gang signs would they use? \u00c2\u00a0 Maybe they had a gang name for themselves even.\u00c2\u00a0 Maybe Heaven’s Devils?\u00c2\u00a0 That has a nice ring to it.<\/p>\n

No wonder the world is exploding with religious intolerance when priests of (almost) the same religion can’t even get along.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
