{"id":1038,"date":"2008-01-28T08:52:27","date_gmt":"2008-01-28T13:52:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vallentyne.com\/blog\/2008\/01\/28\/canada-is-too-dangerous-for-australians\/"},"modified":"2008-01-28T08:52:27","modified_gmt":"2008-01-28T13:52:27","slug":"canada-is-too-dangerous-for-australians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vallentyne.com\/blog\/2008\/01\/28\/canada-is-too-dangerous-for-australians\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada is too dangerous for Australians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade runs a website for citizens of Australia called Safe Travellers, and apparently it has decided it has had enough and <a href=\"http:\/\/cnews.canoe.ca\/CNEWS\/Canada\/2008\/01\/25\/4793424-cp.html\">decided to call Canada a risky destination<\/a> for Aussie travellers.\u00c2\u00a0 Chile, South Korea and Latvia are among the countries listed that are deemed to be <em><strong>safer<\/strong><\/em> than Canada.\u00c2\u00a0 Yep, apparently there are just too many avalanches, forest fires\u00c2\u00a0and earthquakes.\u00c2\u00a0 Here&#8217;s a quote from the Canoe article:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>Apparently our problems stem from the threat of terrorism, heavy snow, ice and forest fires that can erupt &#8220;at any time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>British Columbia, in particular, was singled out as being in an active earthquake zone and &#8220;subject to avalanches&#8221;
