{"id":1116,"date":"2008-05-14T16:06:18","date_gmt":"2008-05-14T20:06:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vallentyne.com\/blog\/?p=1116"},"modified":"2008-05-14T16:06:18","modified_gmt":"2008-05-14T20:06:18","slug":"the-horror-the-horror","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vallentyne.com\/blog\/2008\/05\/14\/the-horror-the-horror\/","title":{"rendered":"The horror, the horror"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This <a href=\"http:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/GMA\/story?id=4828035\">poor child<\/a> has a disorder that prevents him from sleeping.\u00c2\u00a0 Ever.\u00c2\u00a0 He&#8217;s never slept a night in his entire life.\u00c2\u00a0 Apparently not sleeping for the first four years of his life also makes him a tad cranky.<\/p>\n<p>His parents, however, are fine.\u00c2\u00a0 Juuust fine, thank you.\u00c2\u00a0 FINE I said.<\/p>\n<p>We have great kids, I enjoy them a lot.\u00c2\u00a0 And they all enjoy sleeping a lot.\u00c2\u00a0 I love it when they sleep even more, however.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s grownup time, and some days it is as necessary as oxygen.\u00c2\u00a0 To think of these parents locked into a sandy eyed, bleary hell for all of this time gives me the willies.\u00c2\u00a0 My eyeballs would probably actually physically shrivel like raisins in their sockets, falling out periodically, inducing sudden vertigo.\u00c2\u00a0 Between that and the involuntary limb windmilling, and sudden screaming (I&#8217;m referring to the symptoms of the parents of course), it&#8217;s a wonder they haven&#8217;t been arrested for something yet.\u00c2\u00a0 Although I would imagine that would be a sweet release in a way.\u00c2\u00a0 Locked in a dark room full of sex offenders and murderers for 8 hours&#8230; in my books very much preferable to 4 years without sleep.<\/p>\n<p>Can you tell that we value sleep at our house?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This poor child has a disorder that prevents him from sleeping.\u00c2\u00a0 Ever.\u00c2\u00a0 He&#8217;s never slept a night in his entire life.\u00c2\u00a0 Apparently not sleeping for the first four years of his life also makes him a tad cranky.
