{"id":1279,"date":"2008-10-06T16:39:24","date_gmt":"2008-10-06T20:39:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vallentyne.com\/blog\/?p=1279"},"modified":"2008-10-06T16:39:24","modified_gmt":"2008-10-06T20:39:24","slug":"one-eye-on-the-road-the-other-on-the-pixels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vallentyne.com\/blog\/2008\/10\/06\/one-eye-on-the-road-the-other-on-the-pixels\/","title":{"rendered":"One eye on the road, the other on the pixels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Having recently spent some time driving for more than I am used to, I can (almost) symapthize with the following two dunderheads.<\/p>\n<p>A trucker decided that driving was <a href=\"http:\/\/cnews.canoe.ca\/CNEWS\/WeirdNews\/2008\/10\/03\/6968671-ap.html\" target=\"_blank\">way too boring<\/a>, and he decided to pull out his laptop, put it on the dashboard, and cue up an episode of Battlestar Galactica while driving. \u00c2\u00a0The cop who pulled him over saw that the episode was still playing on the dash. \u00c2\u00a0His defense? \u00c2\u00a0He was just listening to the audio while consulting Google Maps, which is clearly an operation that anyone could do while driving.<\/p>\n<p>Then, even better, we have the bus driver who <a href=\"http:\/\/kgmb9.com\/main\/content\/view\/10008\/40\/\" target=\"_blank\">was caught<\/a> (on video no less) playing videogames while driving his bus around town and on the highway. \u00c2\u00a0This guy is the dumbest of the dumb since he was playing in full view of his passengers, and so will no doubt be fired faster than you can say game over. \u00c2\u00a0Hell of a way to waste an 18-year career with a spotless record&#8230;. \u00c2\u00a0Hope he beat the level though.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On my recent roadtrip, I handed the iPhone to an able passenger to do any Googling or map location finding. \u00c2\u00a0Methinks the I-81 is not exactly the place for a quick game of anything&#8230;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Having recently spent some time driving for more than I am used to, I can (almost) symapthize with the following two dunderheads.
