{"id":1353,"date":"2008-11-17T08:00:32","date_gmt":"2008-11-17T12:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vallentyne.com\/blog\/?p=1353"},"modified":"2008-11-14T15:24:56","modified_gmt":"2008-11-14T19:24:56","slug":"the-hoff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vallentyne.com\/blog\/2008\/11\/17\/the-hoff\/","title":{"rendered":"The Hoff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It doesn&#8217;t pay to be late to an appointment. \u00c2\u00a0Usually a hurried, late entry makes a bad impression. \u00c2\u00a0I tend to spout apologies, layering them around me to cushion the slight annoyance that tardiness brings to most people. \u00c2\u00a0Sometimes there can be graver consequences to being late, as I discovered Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>I was running late to get my hair cut. \u00c2\u00a0To make matters worse, I was the last appointment of the day. \u00c2\u00a0On top of that, there was nobody there before me, and as I pull up I see the hair guy sitting in the chair, clearly waiting for me to get my ass over there. \u00c2\u00a0Even better, his receptionist is also waiting with a girlfriend, apparently they all drive together. \u00c2\u00a0Oh great, so now I show up 13 minutes late and look like a huge jerk, making 3 people late to get home. \u00c2\u00a0I apologized profusely and my extremely competent hair dresser starts to whack away at my rapidly thinning mop as usual. \u00c2\u00a0Small talk ensues. \u00c2\u00a0I think things are just fine, and they probably are, until he&#8217;s done his usual very thorough cut and starts to blow-dry my hair. \u00c2\u00a0He&#8217;s at it for quite a while. \u00c2\u00a0I never do this at home, and he knows this but always insists on it. \u00c2\u00a0It&#8217;s probably a professional pride thing, which I can understand completely, the guy is really very good. \u00c2\u00a0The only slight difference this time is by the time I leave I have a very different hair style from what I normally wear. \u00c2\u00a0I couldn&#8217;t quite put my finger on it, until I got home and Nikki got a look at me.<\/p>\n<p>She was very tactful, if by tactful you mean explosive\u00c2\u00a0snorting and\u00c2\u00a0laughter. \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hasselhoff.com\/img\/gallery\/hoff-1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hasselhoff.com\/img\/gallery\/hoff-1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"237\" height=\"331\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Honey, David Hasselhoff called and he wants his hairdo back.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Did you and Kitt run into any traffic?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I washed your new trunks for you.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That sort of thing went on for quite a while until I scrubbed some water through my hair and managed to reduce the volume a bit.<\/p>\n<p>So the moral of the story is to not be late, it can have a detrimental effect on your home life, esteem, and relationships. \u00c2\u00a0I solemnly swear to never be late to another hair cut again, my marriage depends on it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It doesn&#8217;t pay to be late to an appointment. \u00c2\u00a0Usually a hurried, late entry makes a bad impression. \u00c2\u00a0I tend to spout apologies, layering them around me to cushion the slight annoyance that tardiness brings to most people. \u00c2\u00a0Sometimes there &hellip;
