{"id":1378,"date":"2008-11-21T12:47:42","date_gmt":"2008-11-21T16:47:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vallentyne.com\/blog\/?p=1378"},"modified":"2008-11-21T12:48:34","modified_gmt":"2008-11-21T16:48:34","slug":"nutritional-nostril-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vallentyne.com\/blog\/2008\/11\/21\/nutritional-nostril-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Nutritional Nostril News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/servlet\/story\/RTGAM.20081120.wbeverages20\/BNStory\/lifeMain\/?page=rss&amp;id=RTGAM.20081120.wbeverages20\" target=\"_blank\">nutritional information today<\/a>, as I snarf down some leftover cold pizza for lunch. \u00c2\u00a0Apparently a new study shows the liquids we drink in a day could add up to another whole meal, if we aren&#8217;t being careful. \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;What you drink is basically the same [amount of calories] as what you eat for lunch.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Some other revelations of the study include: \u00c2\u00a0teenage boys drink more soft drinks than is exactly a good idea, teenage girls should drink milk more, adults drink too much alcohol and caffeine. \u00c2\u00a0Not exactly a revelation, perhaps, but good to know. \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Then we move onto the coolest cooking utensil I have seen in a while, it&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/8301-13553_1-10098412-32.html?part=rss&amp;tag=feed&amp;subj=Crave\" target=\"_blank\">a hands-free whisk<\/a>. \u00c2\u00a0As the reviewer on Boing Boing Gadgets pointed out, it&#8217;s basically right out of Harry Potter, which is just too cool. \u00c2\u00a0Not sure how practical it is, since as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lakeland.co.uk\/'stirr'\/F\/productvideo\/12301?returnURL=\/'stirr'\/F\/keyword\/stirr\/product\/12301?src=awdefANDafid=80683ANDafname=!!!name!!!ANDsrc=awdefANDafid=80683ANDafname=!!!name!!!\" target=\"_blank\">the video<\/a> shows it doesn&#8217;t really whisk, but rather sort of just rotate around very very lethargically.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, we have something that the kids would probably love, and parents almost universally find revolting. \u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/thespreadheads.com\" target=\"_blank\">The SpreadHeads<\/a> are an attachment you screw onto your ketchup and mustard bottle, and then it appears as though the mustard is vomited out of the little guy&#8217;s mouth, and the ketchup streams out of the other&#8217;s nose like a nosebleed. \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Spreadheads\" src=\"http:\/\/gadgets.boingboing.net\/scaledspreadheads-thumb-520x291.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"468\" height=\"262\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Brilliant. \u00c2\u00a0It&#8217;s more than a little disturbing, for sure, but the company is missing out on the real marketing angle here. \u00c2\u00a0Kids are drinking too much soda, right?
