{"id":1559,"date":"2009-02-26T10:12:43","date_gmt":"2009-02-26T14:12:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vallentyne.com\/blog\/?p=1559"},"modified":"2009-02-26T10:14:00","modified_gmt":"2009-02-26T14:14:00","slug":"holy-mismanagement-of-public-funds-batman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vallentyne.com\/blog\/2009\/02\/26\/holy-mismanagement-of-public-funds-batman\/","title":{"rendered":"Holy Mismanagement of Public Funds, Batman!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Incredibly, GM lost <a href=\"http:\/\/business.theglobeandmail.com\/servlet\/story\/RTGAM.20090226.wgm0226\/BNStory\/Business\/?page=rss&amp;id=RTGAM.20090226.wgm0226\" target=\"_blank\">another $9.6 billion dollars in the last quarter<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 Apparently it also set fire to $6 billion in cash, while it was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vallentyne.com\/blog\/2008\/12\/19\/finally\/\" target=\"_blank\">negotiating for that $9 billion<\/a> in government money.<\/p>\n<p>What in the heck is going on here?\u00c2\u00a0 Does this seem insane to anyone else?\u00c2\u00a0 How do you spend $6 billion in three months, while at the same time begging with your hat in hand for <a href=\"http:\/\/business.theglobeandmail.com\/servlet\/story\/RTGAM.20081219.wbushautos1219\/BNStory\/Business\/?page=rss&amp;id=RTGAM.20081219.wbushautos1219\" target=\"_blank\">$9 billion<\/a>?\u00c2\u00a0 Thank god they kept the lights on, churning out crappy vehicles one after another.\u00c2\u00a0 They have been dealing with this for months now, and they still have only 6 vehicles out of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gm.ca\/gm\/english\/showrooms\/cars?adv=72467\" target=\"_blank\">54 models available<\/a> (54!) that even have hybrid as an option, and 4 of those are hybrid SUVs, like we need those somehow.\u00c2\u00a0 If this isn&#8217;t just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, I don&#8217;t know what it is.<\/p>\n<p>Bravo, you guys are really burning up the carpet on this one.\u00c2\u00a0 I can&#8217;t wait to see how this all turns out, but the sad part is the folks that will suffer because this company can&#8217;t seem to pull it&#8217;s head out of it&#8217;s own butt.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Incredibly, GM lost another $9.6 billion dollars in the last quarter.\u00c2\u00a0 Apparently it also set fire to $6 billion in cash, while it was negotiating for that $9 billion in government money.
