{"id":881,"date":"2007-04-16T14:31:26","date_gmt":"2007-04-16T19:31:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vallentyne.com\/blog\/2007\/04\/16\/news-round-up\/"},"modified":"2007-04-16T14:31:26","modified_gmt":"2007-04-16T19:31:26","slug":"news-round-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vallentyne.com\/blog\/2007\/04\/16\/news-round-up\/","title":{"rendered":"News Round Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s your Monday News roundup.<\/p>\n<p>From the department of futility, it seems that over the last decade the US Government has spent a billion dollars to try to get teenagers to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2007\/04\/16\/teens_ignore_abstinence\/\">stop having sex<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 Brilliant use of that money, don&#8217;t they know they have a hugely expensive and incredibly wrong war going on?\u00c2\u00a0 No not the war on drugs, the other one.\u00c2\u00a0 No, not the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2007\/US\/04\/15\/warming.military.ap\/index.html\">war on the environment<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2007\/POLITICS\/04\/16\/bush.iraq.ap\/index.html\">the other one<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And remember <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vallentyne.com\/blog\/2006\/04\/04\/barack-obama\/\">when<\/a> I <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vallentyne.com\/blog\/2006\/10\/10\/stephen-tyrone-colbert\/\">said<\/a> that using The Daily Show and Colbert for my primary sources of current events was a bad idea?\u00c2\u00a0 Well it turns out that it may not be such a bad idea, in fact <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2007\/04\/16\/business\/media\/16pew.html\">a recent study<\/a> shows that morons like me who watched those shows for news were actually the smarterest people of the bunch, including those who watched regular news shows.\u00c2\u00a0 Huh, imagine that.\u00c2\u00a0 I can&#8217;t wait to see what Colbert makes of that story&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Later folks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s your Monday News roundup.
